SRM discs are CD-R or DVD+-R which include pre-recorded autorun software that are performing various tasks such as transferring photos directly from a digital camera, backing up automatically your files, protecting and encrypting your files or backing up your emails directly from Outlook.

A part of the SRM disc contains a very small (1 Mo) and simple recording program that is put on the disc during the factory production. SRM based on CD are called CDSoft-R, those based on DVD are called DVDSoft-R. Both of them are similar to standard CD/DVD-R in terms of full compatibility with the installed base of CD players and recorders.
